About the service

Our Sheffield Crisis House offers short-term, intensive support for adults experiencing an acute mental health crisis. Designed as an alternative to hospital admission or A&E, the service provides a safe, homely, and therapeutic residential environment where individuals can stabilise, de-escalate, and begin their recovery journey.

The service is available to individuals aged 18 and over and consists of eight single-occupancy bedrooms. Residents also have access to a range of communal facilities, including a shared kitchen, lounge, laundry facilities, and garden space. The Crisis House is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring continuous support in a structured but non-clinical setting.

Who can access the service

Referrals to the Steel Haven Recovery House are made through professional pathways via Sheffield secondary mental health services and primarily gatekept by clinicians within the Adult Home Treatment Team to ensure safe, effective and appropriate placements.

The service does not accept self-referrals, and all admissions are coordinated in partnership with relevant clinical teams to ensure safe and appropriate placements.
