Mental Health Matters is delighted and grateful to have the support of Ashley Mitchard, a former paratrooper who has nearly completed 26 marathons in 26 weeks to raise awareness about mental health.

The runner, who served in the Army from 2017 to 2022, wants to encourage young men to open up and talk about their problems. "Along my runs I speak about my emotions, just to get the message out there", says Ashley.

"I run to inspire others with mental health issues. I have been through tough times in the military, so I know what it's like going through bad times."

A former paratrooper, Ashley wants to encourage people to speak up about their mental health. Ashley said, "There are different ways to deal with stress and that's what I want to get out there. Whether you put on your running trainers or have a simple conversation, it will do you a world of good."

Ashley has raised an incredible £4,010 so far, and following his marathon challenge is planning to run 330 miles from Bristol to Paris for mental health causes.
