Pride 2025: More Than a Parade If you look beyond the modern-day perception of Pride for a moment. Before the rainbow flags became a symbol of celebration they were a symbol of protest. As Pride Month 2025 comes to a close, it’s time to reconnect with that spirit. Pride has never been just a parade. It's a necessary protest against a world that still debates people's right to exist. Let us be clear, for too many being LGBTQIA+ in 2025 is still a battle. While progress has been made, the daily challenge of navigating prejudice and outright hostility can be overwhelming. Who wouldn't be impacted by a society that tells you your identity is wrong or a topic of debate? The statistics paint a difficult picture, too, but one we must never look away from. Higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide in our community aren't a sign of weakness; they are a direct consequence of stigma. Our mental wellbeing remains the area where the consequences of homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia is most starkly felt. But the responsibility to address this doesn't just lie with us as a community. A rainbow logo in June is meaningless if support for the community vanishes on July 1st. Allyship doesn't take a holiday. It's about mental health services that are genuinely inclusive, not just tolerant. It's about them showing up for our community even when it isn't easy or fashionable. That's why this year, as we said last, Mental Health Matters is ready to welcome you and support you, however you come. 365 days a year.
