Making a difference as a volunteer At Mental Health Matters, we believe that volunteering is more than giving your time to a great cause, it's also about investing in your personal growth and fulfilment. Our volunteers make a significant impact across the organisation. Their time, skills, and dedication directly enhance the support we provide, often during the most challenging moments in someone’s life. Volunteering with us also brings personal benefits, offering experience in the mental health sector, improving your own wellbeing, boosting your confidence, and helping you build valuable connections within your community What Are the Benefits of Volunteering with Us? We want to support a volunteer's personal and professional growth and development. Here are some of the benefits we hope you'll experience when you join our team: Making a Difference As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in improving the lives of others. You’ll contribute to the wellbeing of your local community and have the chance to provide insight and feedback to further develop our services. Flexibility We understand that life can be busy, and we respect the boundaries our volunteers set regarding their time. Ideally, we look for volunteers who can contribute to one session a week in their chosen role but will always try to be flexible in fitting around other commitments! Personal Development Volunteering with MHM offers the chance to meet new people, improve self-esteem, and build confidence. You'll be a valued member of a team, supported and encouraged throughout your journey with us. Professional Development You’ll receive a comprehensive induction into MHM, including high-quality training, either face-to-face or via e-learning. Volunteers also have access to our full library of e-learning modules. This is a great way to gain hands-on experience in mental health support, and we provide regular supervision and professional references (after three months of service). Many of our volunteers are even encouraged to apply to join us more officially in paid roles! Reimbursement We don’t expect our volunteers to be out of pocket. We offer reasonable travel expenses of up to £5 per day to cover the cost of getting to and from our services. Interested in Joining Us? Volunteering with Mental Health Matters means being part of a supportive, compassionate team making a real impact in people' lives. Whether you're looking to give back, gain experience, or find purpose in something new, we’d love to hear from you. Volunteer with us Manage Cookie Preferences
